Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use MASQO (the “App”) or visit masqo.app.
Information handled by the App
Gameplay and custom content
Player names, party-session state, secret words, hints, custom decks, settings, and game progress are stored locally on your device. MASQO does not intentionally send player names, secret words, hints, or custom-deck content to our servers, Firebase, RevenueCat, or advertising services.
Local app files are excluded from iCloud backup. They may be lost if you delete the App, reinstall it, reset its data, or lose the device.
Subscriptions and purchases
Payments are processed by Apple. Apple and our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat, may process an anonymous app user identifier, product and subscription status, transaction and renewal dates, storefront country or region, trial eligibility, purchase receipts, and refund information. We do not receive your full payment-card details or Apple Account password.
The anonymous RevenueCat App User ID is shown in the App as a Support ID so we can locate purchase and entitlement information when you ask for help. Resetting MASQO’s local data does not rotate this identifier. Reinstalling the App may create a new identifier.
Analytics, attribution, and diagnostics
Where enabled, Firebase Analytics may process limited app-interaction events, device and app information, coarse region, and numeric or enumerated gameplay information so we can understand onboarding, purchases, deck selection, completed rounds, and feature reliability. Analytics events are designed not to contain player names, secret words, hints, custom-deck content, or other free-form user text.
Analytics collection starts disabled while the App determines the applicable region policy. It remains disabled for users in the EEA and UK and when the region cannot be determined, including while offline. For other regions, the App may enable analytics subject to applicable requirements.
Firebase Crashlytics may process crash reports, diagnostic information, app and operating-system versions, device model, and redacted technical breadcrumbs. MASQO does not intentionally attach gameplay content or arbitrary user text to crash reports.
MASQO may use Apple AdServices standard attribution through RevenueCat to understand whether an App Store download followed an Apple Search Ads campaign. We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission and do not use detailed attribution or personalized advertising identifiers.
Notifications
If you opt in to notifications, Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging may process a device token and topic subscriptions needed to deliver generic party reminders or seasonal announcements. Cloudflare schedules approved messages and sends them to Firebase topics; we do not maintain our own database of device tokens. Notification payloads do not contain player names, secret words, hints, custom content, or active-round state.
Locally scheduled party reminders stay on your device. You can turn reminders or remote notifications off in the App or in iOS Settings.
Support communications
If you contact us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include. This may include your Support ID, App version, iOS version, device model, screenshots, or troubleshooting details. Please do not include player names, secret words, custom-deck content, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary to resolve the issue.
Website and network request data
Cloudflare hosts this website and related MASQO services and may process ordinary network and request information such as IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested path, request time, response status, and security events. The website does not set advertising cookies or run product analytics.
The App may contact a Cloudflare privacy-region endpoint that returns only an analytics allow-or-deny policy based on the request’s edge country. The endpoint is designed not to receive a client identifier and not to intentionally persist request data; operational logs are disabled or redacted where configured.
How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- provide, restore, and verify subscription access;
- deliver notifications you requested;
- measure App reliability and limited product usage where permitted;
- diagnose crashes, purchase issues, fraud, and abuse;
- secure and operate the App, website, and supporting services;
- respond to support, privacy, and legal requests; and
- comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Use.
Legal bases
Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract with you by providing the App and purchased access, based on legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving MASQO, with your consent for optional notifications and any processing that legally requires consent, and to comply with legal obligations.
Service providers and disclosure
We use the following providers:
- Apple for App Store distribution, payments, purchase restoration, AdServices attribution, and push notifications;
- RevenueCat for subscription status, entitlements, purchase restoration, and standard Apple Search Ads attribution;
- Google Firebase for permitted analytics, crash diagnostics, and push-notification delivery; and
- Cloudflare for website and service hosting, security, region-policy resolution, and scheduled notification delivery.
These providers process information under their own privacy terms and our service arrangements. We share information with them only as needed to operate MASQO. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for cross-app behavioral advertising.
Retention
- Local gameplay data remains on your device until you reset the App, delete the App, or the operating system removes it.
- Local party reminders remain until they fire, are disabled, or you reset the App.
- Apple, RevenueCat, Firebase, and Cloudflare retain information according to their applicable service settings, legal obligations, security needs, and privacy policies.
- Support messages and related records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.
- Purchase and legal records may be retained for the period required by Apple, applicable law, accounting rules, or the provider’s retention requirements.
Resetting local data and your choices
In the App, choose Reset all data and confirm the destructive action. MASQO removes its local gameplay, party, custom-deck, settings, progress, and entitlement-cache files, cancels pending local reminders, and clears available local Firebase Analytics data.
Resetting local data does not cancel an App Store subscription, rotate the RevenueCat Support ID, or delete information already transmitted to Apple, RevenueCat, Firebase, Cloudflare, or support. Manage or cancel billing in Apple Account subscription settings. Contact help@masqo.app for a privacy request relating to data we control.
Permissions and controls
- Notifications: requested only after an in-app explanation and your positive action.
- Notification controls: available in the App and iOS Settings.
- Tracking: MASQO does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
- Device access: MASQO does not need camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, or photo-library access for its core party-game experience.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or complain to a local data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right. Because MASQO does not require an account, we may need your Support ID or details about a support request to locate relevant records.
International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for cross-border transfers. Privacy protections may differ between jurisdictions.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including data minimization, typed analytics events, redacted diagnostics, and local-only storage for gameplay content. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Adults only
MASQO is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit use by or collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date.
